12 Practical Steps to Making Your Marriage Heaven on Earth: No Matter Your Current Situation, Good, Bad, or Ugly; Your Marriage Can Be Better

by Adrianne Brooks
Defiance is a banshee living in the grim aftermath of a failed apocalypse. With the power to mark both mortals and deities for the Reaper, she spends her existence running from the Church, knowing her unique abilities make her a target. Her desperate flight takes a dangerous turn when she inadvertently releases Uriel, a legendary Archangel blinded by a forgotten war.
Bound by necessity, this unlikely pair enters a shaky alliance. Uriel holds a sentient shotgun and a cynical view of humanity, while Defiance carries the weight of a world that was supposed to have ended long ago. As they navigate a bloodthirsty landscape where the Four Horsemen are riding once more, their icy tension begins to thaw into something far more volatile.
This dark, atmospheric horror fantasy is a masterclass in the enemies-to-lovers trope. Adrianne Brooks crafts a gritty, high-stakes universe where the lines between salvation and damnation are hopelessly blurred. If you are craving a paranormal romance that trades traditional halos for grit, gore, and forbidden tension, this series offers a refreshingly original take on fallen angels. Dive into a world where the end of the world was only the beginning of the battle.

I purchased this trilogy years ago and was SO delighted by how original the storyline was and how everything unfolded across the books to the end. I don't want to say too much and give anything away. I don't think it will come across as unique and original today simply due to where media in general has gone in storytelling over the years, but I really recommend this book--and the full trilogy if Ms. Brooks decides to re-release the others. Pros: -mystery -fantasy -romance -horror -interesting...

The story has potential but the author needs a better editor. A body becomes “emaciated” without food, not “emancipated”. You lie “prostrate” on the ground, not “prostate” and “drug” is not the past tense of “drag”. )
