by Rebecca Crunden
When Octavia Coal retreats to the mountains for solitude, she expects silence, not a fallen angel bleeding into the snow. Tamiel is an Irin warrior turned fugitive, hunted by his own kind for the ultimate transgression: falling in love with a human. Thrown into a celestial conspiracy, Octavia finds herself caught between the rigid laws of heaven and the chaotic whims of hell.
To save Tamiel from execution, Octavia strikes a dangerous bargain with Zev, the seductive Demon of Games. Her price? Becoming the personal healer to Raphael, the formidable Commander of the Irin. Suddenly, Octavia is thrust into a high-stakes world of angelic politics and demonic deception where one wrong move means death. She is no longer just a bystander; she is a pawn in a divine power struggle that spans dimensions.
This gripping urban fantasy delivers a wild, fast-paced ride through a world where angels are soldiers and demons are tricksters. Blending intense paranormal romance with intricate lore and high-octane action, it is the perfect escape for readers who crave forbidden love and morally gray characters. In a game where the rules shift daily, Octavia must learn to outplay her masters before she becomes the final casualty.

This was a ride for sure. I'd forgotten exactly what it was about when I started reading (don't judge, my tbr is massive) but that was remedied quickly enough. I don't read a lot of angel-related urban fantasy. It tends to the religious too often and I just have very little interest in soldiers of god, right? This story managed to walk a line near enough that to be recognizable, but far enough away to keep me reading--if that even makes sense. There were biblical things mentioned that I'm not...

While this wasn't my favorite book by Crunden, A Game of Wings and Marks was an enjoyable, fast-paced urban fantasy with characters you want to root for and fascinating world-building. I've always been very interested in lore about angels, demons, and nephilim. So, I was excited to see what Crunden would do with these constructs, and she didn't disappoint. Their use was familiar while also refreshingly unique, and I honestly would have loved to learn even more about the roles and history of the...

I bought this like 10 days ago?? and finished 5 or 6 days ago. I mean, I devoured it! Octavia is spectacular, & Tamiel gave me serious John Travolta as Michael (1996 film) vibes. Rebecca captured what it's like to know and own your niche as an author. I picked this up for being a paranormal angel romance, and it hit all the warm and fuzzies. Bonus points for Octavia's dog Cleo having the same name as my first family dog. )

This is my favorite genre and the author started with a good foundation of Angel/demonology but gave it a fun spin. Parts of the book went a little quick, since I usually read series, but that was both necessary for it to be self contained and lent to it being a fast read. It was a nice romance level for me (good banter, some cute moments, and about a level two “closed door” for heat, which I like!). Definitely recommend if you want a good supernatural contemporary blended story! )

Thank you to Rebecca Crunden for providing me a copy for an honest review! When Octavia stumbles on the dying angel Tamiel, she has no idea just how quickly her life is about to change. Having fallen in love with a human, Tamiel has become hunted by his kind. Without hesitation, Octavia helps him and in turn, is swept up in the world of angels and demons. She suddenly finds herself bound to both the archangel Raphael and the Demon of Games, Zev. Caught between the two warring races, Octavia...
